Sex Offender Registry Oregon
A convicted sex offender in the state of Oregon may be required to register. This means that he must check in at his local sheriff's office whenever he moves to a new address. This allows law enforcement personnel and community members to be aware of his presence. The list of sexual offenses that can result in a registered sex offender label for an individual is quite long. It runs the gamut from public indecency to child rape. A complete list of registerable sex offenses in the state of Oregon is listed on Oregon.gov. The Oregon State Police, Sex Offender Registration Unit, tracks registration of persons convicted of sex crimes who reside, work or attend school within the state of Oregon. The Unit is the state repository for information within the state, encompassing adult and juvenile offenders. As of May 2007 the Unit maintained files on 13,873 individuals.
