SWAT Team Salary
SWAT teams are divisions of the police that respond to high-risk situations with advanced tactics. These may include search and rescue, hostage situations, covert tactical operations, crisis intervention and other high-risk situations. Their members are in top physical condition and proficient with firearms, and they train consistently in tactical maneuvers and assault. The salary of a SWAT team officer, however, is generally comparable to the salary of any other police officer. SWAT team members must deal with extremely dangerous situations, undergo constant training and maintain excellent physical condition. They may also work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays. However, these Special Weapons and Tactics officers are paid more than regular police officers and enjoy very generous benefits packages.
