Pharmacy Technician Training

Pharmacy Technician Training

A pharmacy technician is a pharmacy staff member who works under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, and performs many pharmacy-related functions. A pharmacy technician assists the pharmacist by filling prescriptions, contacting and managing patients and interacting with doctors. Because a pharmacy technician works with medications, insurance details and a patient's health, training is required. Technician training can take place at a community college, hospital or vocational school, or in an online program. These training courses can be expensive, but financial aid may be available. Pharmacy Technician Training includes understanding the rules and regulations of pharmacology, mixing and preparing medications, monitoring inventory, filling out insurance claims and working with patient charts.

In other states like Utah, they require a person to present a certificate with internship hours first before an individual is hired to work for a pharmacy. http://techniciansalary.net/pharmacy-technician-salary/. Click here
